How Long Does It Take For A Car To Be Ready?

I put down a deposit for a used car (two years old) at a proper/major dealer just on Friday. I am completely new to this and so does anyone know how long it takes until I'm contacted for collection? The salesman said they have to do a 145 point check or something. Just wondered what the standard wait time is. Thank you.

You tell them, you are the customer.

Looking at the quotes available and depending on where you are, I wouldn't have expected you to pay more than £600.

Who did you go to for the replacement.

You can say that again, Tora 😥

Did you have the car checked over by an independant mechanic?

if you possibly can take it back, they'll resist they absolutely hate having to take a car back. Do it today, squat in their showroom if you have to. Get your dosh back.

Hi DDIL.  I bought it from a proper Toyota showroom that was recommended by so many people 🤷‍♀️

On what grounds would you return the car?

The windscreen? nothing to do with them?

The rattle - you are saying it wasn't there before the windscreen was replaced, so you need to find out what the rattle is.

The bigger the facade the bigger the con men behind it. I can tell you some right horror stories.

09:44 If it now sounds like a bag of spanners when it did not before that means some sort of covert temporary fix was employed to get it sold. At best that's hiding faults.

In order to return the car within 30 days you need proof that the car is faulty.

This right is protected by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and applies to both new and used cars purchased after October 1, 2015. If the car is of poor quality, doesn't meet its description, or is unfit for its intended purpose, you can reject it and receive a full refund. You can also ask the dealer to repair the car or replace it with a similar model

It's like in the old days when they used to fill a gearbox with sawdust. It would sound and perform great for a short time to get it sold.

This poop goes deep 🤦🏻‍♀️

Treacle71, how do you know?

Looking back at your previous questions you have admitted you know nothing about cars, it could be a bracket come loose.

That is why I suggested you get it checked out.  The windscreen is not the car showrooms fault and you won't get your money back for that.

Hi DDIL.  I'll give it a test run later and if the problem is still there, I'll ring them to let them know.  The showroom I got it from is 18 miles away from me, but I'd like to take it to their sister company two miles from me if anything is wrong.  If they'll agree.  I worry some harm could be done further if I take it further afield, but then I do worry about everything and anything!

Thank you to you and all who've stepped in here with their opinions.
