"

Note

Not all Model Y vehicles are equipped with a manual release for the rear doors."

oh dear

Yes, and I would also not crash it into a pillar.

Lots of car door don't open after a serious crash.

Why does this particular crash interest you?

Question Author

because it was exacerbated specifically by door handles requiring power in order to work... the fact that some of these cars do not have manual releases for the passenger doors seems to me a very good reason not to get in one!

Would you get in a car with electric windows?

Get in deep water and you can't open the doors or the windows

Question Author

if you're in deep water you're pretty much doomed anyway

Few people emerge from a seriously crashed car, electric doors and windows or not. They usually have to be cut out.

How many cars have mechanical wind-down windows nowadays any way?

Untitled, I was a passenger in a car 50 years ago that ended up in deep water. We could open the car doors because we could wind the windows down. We all survived. It was dark, in a remote area. It could have been fatal.

Absolutely not!

Nothing to do with it being an electric vehicle but to do with its biggest shareholder.

Question Author

i'm glad you survived that barry. i still think teslas are remarkably dangerous however. imagine getting into a crash and not being able to open the door even if it is undamaged.

Nope, I've decide to keep the Jaaag going, even if I have to spend a few quid on it now and again.

Frankly it's the modern way. It's like the kids who go out with no cash, then the machine is off line and they are screwed. I work with a belt and braces attitude. For example I have a knife in the car so I can cut my seatbelts., There is no way I'd get into a car that had no mechanical way to open the doors.
