I have a Vauxhall Astra 1999 model and the odometer (mileage) display keeps failing. When this happens, the car then won't start at all. I had the battery replaced a month ago and the display reappeared and all was well. However, the display has now disappeared again and I expect the car will soon not start at all. Does anyone know what causes this problem. Is it a fault on all Astras?

This sounds like the electronic control module for the dashboard etc... has a bad earth connection, when it looses the earth connection many things will fails at the same time.

there was a fault on the new corsa not so long ago were the plug at the back of the instrument panel was coming loose inturn the dials all stopped working and the engine wouldn't start as the immobiliser is wired through the dash. All you do to rectify it remove the dials clean the plug onto the back of them and secure it with a small cable cable tie
