i have a mondeo on a p plate.recently the central locking has totally packed in,is it somethin simple like a fuse or is it an expensive garage job?

I would check the fuses first. On my (newer 2001) mondeo, the fuse controlling the central locking is situated under the glove box. This is very easy to do and very cheap. If not, then I suspect it may be a garage job.
