My girlfriend was driving to work this morning when the oil light came on and the steering locked. Not just stiff but locked as if the ignition wasn't on even though the engine was still running (luckily she was going down a straight road at the time). She turned the ignition off and started it again and it was fine. I know there is sufficient oil as I checked it on Monday so presume it must be an electric problem. Anyone got any ideas?? Thanks. (its a 'Peugoet 106' x-reg)

These cars have what Peugoet call ''electronic power steering'' so is seems that your car has an electrical fault affecting both the power steering and the oil light system. I would suggest that as a first check you should go through all the fuses and make sure that they are all tight in the holders as it might be a loose connection causing this.
