The TT in the Audi TT stands for Tourist Trophy which is annual race run on the Isle of Man where a beefed up car was called a "TT". The event usually includes many different types of cars and motorcycles.
I think you have got that wrong steveu,it has nothing to do with motocycle racing,i was told by a audi guy that it stands for Turbo Transmission.

it stands for tu tu. the guy who designed this car was known to be into "that" sort of thing !!

obviouslt Mr. Audi was impressed with the smooth sleek lines of the car and wanted to thank his chief designer.

so, he called it the audi tt.

:-)

good job he wasnt a transvestite !

Not all tt's run turbos so surely it can't stand for turbo transmission?

It,s only put on the car to make it sound good so posing plonkers will buy it! TT origonaly came from the Isle of Man as Steve said but is only used now as a marketing ploy.

It stands for Turbo transmission?, what a load of crap, every auto box car has a type of turbo transmission.
