No idea what the most popular car in Sheffield is, but figures published recently...sorry can't remember where....stated that the Ford Focus was the highest selling new car in the UK last year followed by the Vauxhall Astra!

Depends what you mean buy popular. Volume sales are affected by fleet buyers for hire companies, local authorities, etc. Joe public may go for a Nissan or Volkswagen or something because he is often looking to keep a car for 5 or 10 years rather than just 3. My limited experience ( I have been in local government for years and also worked for a charity - I'm on leave at the moment & not doing this on tax-payers time!) is that Ford and Vauxhall are almost universal in Pool/Lease fleets. Some organisations have policies about having cars that were manufactured in UK to support local businesses. What the fleet guys buy can be useful when choosing your own car - these guys do their research as they don't want a fleet of unreliable lemons! But they negotiate a good discount cos they buy in hundreds!
