Posessed Radio and Crunchy Steering?

Obviously not related problems, but I thought I'd ask both questions at once.
When I have the radio on in my car (it's a 1996 Escort 1.8 TDi = rubbish), frequently the station will break for a millisecond and you can hear completely random stuff. Like, people talking or singing. Could it be picking up a CB frequency or something?! It's a bit like subliminal messaging, hehe.
The other problem is that when you turn the steering wheel full lock or near enough, it crunches. I asked a boy about this who said it was probably my axel pads, but I had the brakes checked and they're OK. Could it be the steering fluid? x

Radio - Does it have the traffic announcements (TA) on the display? if so then press the TA button for a few seconds and it should stop it.

Steering - Definatly sounds like the drive shafts are needing some grease or some attention, when you turn the steering at full lock, this often happens

As for the axle pads? never heard of them!!!

Me neither. I think the guy means the brake pads were rubbing on the axle? Whatevers, it wasn't that anyway :)
Traffic thing isn't on: the interruptions only last for a split second, and are often a Pakistani man. I don't mind really, I find it quite hilarious in a sort of freakish way hehe xxx
