driving test

i have a m reg vauxhall corsa. i was going to take my test in it and have had all my lessons in it. my instustor has just told me that because my passenger seat has been permanenly fixed (wont go back or forward) in the past at some time or other, that I cant take my test in now because the driving examiner must be able to move it.

so now I'm really gutted as I was going to book my test for couple of weeks time.

the upshot is can the test centre really do this, I cant find anyhting on the website and the phone is engaged all the time. is this true?
