sticky auto choke

hi me again thanks for the answers on noisy diesels very helpful here is another one for you my pug 306 diesel turbo when you start up the auto choke stays on and does not turn off any suggestions??

You possibly mean the glow plugs and if they stay on then probably the relay or switch is stuck on. If it is a choke light which stays on you don't have a choke so it's either a wiring fault or it is being powered some other way.


You might have an auto cold start device which alters the fuel and timing, this normally resets itself when the engine warms up unlike a manual type with a pull knob similar to a choke. This could be a thermostat or a fuel pump fault. If your engine is noisey then it could be too far advanced and the problems may be linked.
