trailer tents
Hi
I have a renault megan 1400cc 2002 hach back, i want to pull a trailer tent would i be able to do it with my car? also will it do it easley ( not put a strain on the engine as such/climb hills ect ) also what towing bracket+electrics will i need and what are roughly the costs as you can see i'm starting from rock bottom!.

You would be able to tow it with your car.
All cars have a recommended towing capacity and a trailer tent is most likely to be well within that so that you will hardly notice it. Try the Yellow Pages for tow bar fitters which will probably cost from around �80. It's worth joining the caravan or caravan and camping clubs for good low cost sites.
Tourman, do you always have to refer questions elsewhere, it would be nice to see you attempt one sometime, otherwise I see little point in AB?
A general rule as suggested by the big 2 clubs is not to tow anything that's over 85% of your car's weight. It's not a legal limit but makes a lot of sense. A trailer tent will obviously weigh much less than a caravan so I can't see you having any problems.
Another rule of thumb is to allow at least 50bhp for every ton of weight of the combined unit........and just to finish I think stanleyman is a bit optimistic regarding towbar prices. Be prepared for a shock.
