Is it possible to find somebodys address purely from their registration number plate??

the police can..............there is bound to be a web site for the public no doubt??
i dont think that info is available to us mere mortals,only the police,councils,insurance companies,etc,etc.
...and convicted criminals - naughty DVLA!

It is possible to get the registered owners details from theDVLA, You must have a good reason for this.


Hit and run driver etc, I am not sure how you prove your application to dvla though and whether you have to report to the police


As kempie said, criminals have found a way, they spot a car somewhere they wish to steal, note the no plate then ask DVLA for the owners address, then go and steal the car by breaking into the house and taking the keys!


Private clampers also use DVLA to get owners addresses.

Yes you can that is why they are always blanked out on the TV ...... it is not that difficult as the DVLA are not that scrupulous about who can ask for it, in fact I believe anyone saying they run a carpark can do this.

So who exactly do I ring then? I do have a very good reason for doing this,but obviously cant tell DVLA etc this.x

The Police cant give you this it all part of the Data Protection Act
