I am looking to buy some new alloy wheels second hand but am unsure about how far I can go with sizes for my VW Polo. If the rim diameter is R13, aspect ratio 65 and tyre width 175, can I get away with ignoring any of one of these factors?

Such as making sure all sizes are aspect ratio 65, tyre width 175, and R - but maybe get 14 or 15 inch instead (ewven if it looks like there is room for maybe another inch or 2?

Hope someone understands what I mean! Sounds really confusing!

you can play with all of them, if you want to go to a 14,15 inch rim then you lower the aspect acorrdingly, which is the height of the rubber between the rim and the road, like a 40 or 50 series tire. however its something you may have to play around with remounting several times all of your tires to rims and wheels to car until you find the combination you like and most importantly works.
