They give slightly better performance, though for 'normal' cars it is negligible. High performance vehicles will benefit more.

So myself who does a 70 mile round trip to work everyday in a 1.6 rover wouldnt benefit?
BP ultimate costs about 10% more than the normal fuels and gives 10% better fuel economy by my reckoning, meaning you pay the same amount per mile, but fill up less often. I think it's supposed to be better for your engine as well.
The ECUs in moden cars will self adjust to make the most of whatever fuel you use, a cooking 1.6 motor will not really benifit at all from using this stuff. My Impreza is supposed to use super unleaded, but I have run it for years on the normal stuff becaus if there was any difference it was so small I couldnt detect it. MPG seemed to be the same also. Some of the guys in the impreza drivers club reckon that dyno runs prove that it produces 2-3 extra BHP over normal unleaded, not worth the extra cost IMO.
