I have just bought a '97 Fiesta. The driver door will not unlock after locking (it will if it's just been closed) so has to be opened from passenger side. It hasn't got central locking-will this be an easy problem to sort or v. expensive?

Could anybody help please?! Thanks!

we have a 97 escort that does that! it's really annoying apparently it's a security thing and you have to turn the key to the right then the left then the right i think or maybe the other way round!! i can never do it right but my husband can get it open!! other than that can't help u sorry x
Common problem - the lock barrel becomes worn and produces these symptoms, that's why the passenger lock is ok as it doesn't really get used for locking and unlocking the car. Only answer is to replace the lock. You can take the barrel out and file the locking pins - that's what I did. You could probably swap them over so the good one is on the driver's side.
