central locking

i have a peugot 406 tdi and the central locking is playing up.as i know nothing about central locking where shall i look first?

sorry i ment a 405 tdi mreg.
Easiest thing to start with is to check the battery in your remote key.
you dont say what is happening but if the locks are going down when you press the remote but then pop up again on their own, its probably the solenoid in either of the front doors.

they remote key will not do anything at all after new bateries were put in. and when you lock a door it does just that and no other doors.
I would first check the wiring between the doors and car body ( especially drivers door ). It is common on these cars for the wiring to break at these points.

ive checked all the wires from the connector blocks to the fuse box and all appear to be ok and there is also power the the thing in the door so would i beright in saying that the thing in the door is broke or the sencor behind the glove box?
