i have a 2001 renault scenic 2.0litre 16v and am having problems with the brakes. If you break very hard the brake pedal stops half way down, the car stops but not quickly. The breaks have been bled and there is no air in the system, all the calipers are working fine, the pads are fine so we cannot work out what the problem is. Has anyone else suffered the same?

the pads might seem fine to look at but they may have gone hard and glossed so you might be getting brake fade. try a new set of quality pads. if you got money to spend even a new set of discs could help.

Should get an answer quickly.

I had a problem like this: I suspect you may have a servo problem.

The brake servo assists braking and is connected to the intake vacuum, and if it fails you still have brakes but the effort required is considerably greater.
