Im looking to get satnav for my boyfriend. Ideally he will want something which he can use in his car or my car but also use with his motorbike. He has a clear case tank bag which he could fit a small unit in if not too thick but would need a large clear screen as (obviously) he would get no sound.

can anyone recommend anything that can be used in any of the 3 vehicles, with fixings for the cars perferable.

I got the TomTom 510 which has the speed ooops I mean 'safety' cameras on it and buetooth for mobile phone connectivity - Can't fault it - absolutely brilliant and it's easy to use. You can detach it from the screen mount in seconds and you can get these mounts separately so you can have one in either car. It can be used on the vehicle 12v electrics or on its own. It has a wide clear screen but maybe not slim enough for the tank bag fitting you mention. Definitely worth a look though.

Thank you Homer

I think if it was for just the car id go for a tom tom. But isnt it a wedge shape? It really does need to fit in both car and on bike as he uses both equally.

the tomtoms have touch sensetive screens that do not work if wearing motorcycle gloves. the only tomtom that would be any good is the tomtom rider. but it is still quite expensive compared to normal tomtoms, but that is probably the best product on the market.

Thank you, I have seen the 'rider' advertised but the price is a bit offputting.
I got a medion sat nav from Aldi. it is around the 200 mark and comes complete with waterproof kit etc, just what you need. Haven't downloaded upgrades for it yet but I've had it 6 months with no probs. When you buy they are up-to-date.
