The model that is thought of as a "landrover" is known as a defender.
The Range Rover is a very sophisticated luxury car, the Defender is a no compromise off road vehicle. It has massive suspension travel and wheel articulation (flexibility) which allow it to keep all wheels on the ground in the most unlikely situations. It can resist tipping over at greater than 45 degrees and is even deliberately designed to let water in so that if you cross a river in one there's no chance that you'll start to float and drift off down stream.
There's very little electronics in a defender in fact a Range Rover has more electronics in the driver's seat than in the entire car in the defender. Consequently if it breaks down in Mali or Chad or somewhere there's a good chance that a local mechanic will be able to get it going again.
And they're very very tough especially this one:
