my Seat ibiza was hit by a TVR (ouch) and subsequently their insurance company are assisting me as they admitted fault. I took it to the crash repair place who said 'probably total loss / write off' which i expected. When they come back with a figure for me i shall turn it down (always turn down the 1st apparantly) and will state all the other things on my car.. i.e. TSW alloys, tints etc.
question being... do i need to get my insurance company involved at all ???
You should not be dealing with this insurance company at all. They certainly are not helping YOU - they are only interested in helping themselves to keep the payout down.
Let your own insurance company deal with it - that is what you pay your premiums for.
What about personal injury? Whiplash and so on.
And associated costs - cost of hire vehicle, public transport, time off work, general inconvenience and telephone calls.
As previously mentioned, I believe that you do have to notify your Insurance company, failure to do so could be considered as non-disclosure for any future insurance, also I do believe that unfairly as it sounds, its a No claims bonus and not a No blame bonus, so you could lose this also, even though its not your fault - worth checking with your insurers and I would be careful, as its amazing how many times people accepting blame change their minds when their Insurer becomes involved.
