I'm suffering with my Astra 1600 Auto with only 36k miles with loss of power when I try to accelerate - so far, the suggestions have been!!!!!..... Gearbox,electrical,coil,exhaust,torque converter,brakes, and " what do you expect from a Vauxhall? Scrap it!! "

it could be the air mass meter go and get it checked out at the garage and they will tell u wat the fault is
You do not say what year your car is but take it to a Vauxhall dealer and have it connected to their diagnostic equipment, it costs a bit but not as much as replacing all the parts suggested by unqualified guessers!
u dont need to take it to vauxhall ask any of ur local garages, they mite do diagnostics too!! prob b cheaper than vauxhall around 40-50 quid. has it got a slight misfire? coils tend to go on astras goodliuck

Vauxhall Astra Power Loss!!

Apparently it's down to the PNP switch; whatever that is! apart from �300! . The gearbox is trying to pull away in 3rd. as if something was wrong!
I think one of you other guys might be right - "scrap it! "...
Seems a shame really 'cos it's a nice looking car and I thought I could get a few more years out of it.
