Land Rover Discovery heater plug relay
6 Answers
1994 Discovery wont start. The glow plug relay is not working but all the wires to it are doing what they are supposed to. The relay itself is not faulty. Can start it by running feed to the fuel cut off valve. Anybody know if the relay is somehow linked to the immobilizer???

Unless you have the 200 series, the immobiliser acts on the starter; if it trips, you can get glowplus (not sure about fuel) but as soon as you turn the key to start, there's a load click and no starter.
I would say you have a wiring/fuse/relay fault OR the multi-function box is playing up (difficult to diagnose, tricky to swap and v expensive). The mf box controls the glowplugs.

The glow plug relay controls the fuel cut off.
I can get the glow plugs to work by physically holding the relay down.
All the wiring is intact and doing what it should when it should, the relay just refuses to work but works fine on another disco, which is why I,m thinking there might be a remote link with the immobilizer,.

hi had a similar problem with my disco turned out to be the spider box behind the dash common on discoverys the soldered joints go dry either replace the box or take off and resolder the joints when i looked there was a couple on ebay, bit of a chore to get to as its located right behind the heater controls the same box controls few things but immobiliser and fuel supply all go through it have a look at 4x4 forums lots of info on there.
