I've just had a notice of intended prosecution through the post for doing 47mph in a 30 mph zone. I will obviously get more than a 60 fine and 3 points.
My question is has anyone else had anything similar to me and what happened to you???

cheers

Tut, tut, tut! 17 mph over the top, thank goodness hanging is out of the question!!!.

You will certainly get a proportionate fine for the 17 mph over, and probably 3 points, but certainly you will have to attend one of the centers which trys to each you the right way of doing things! - On top of that I think there are only a few in the country and if you are unluky have to travel miles to attend the place.

Best of luck, but best of all keep the foot off the pedal!!

Hi

If it goes to court the Magistrate's sentencing guidelines for this offence are 4 - 5 points or they do have the power to impose a discretionary disqualification for up to 42 days. There will also be a fine.
just fill the form in toon, you might be lucky mate
I got exactly the same - a NIP for 47 in a 30 in October 2005. I got 3 points and 60 fine so I don't see why you should get any more.
i got caught doing 54mph in a 30mph road and i got 60 fine and 3 points. dont think you'll get any more than that
The Association of Chief Police Officers guidelines for the issue of fixed penalty speeding notices allows for speeds of up to 50 mph in a 30mph zone. Your NIP should also be accompanied by a conditional offer of a fixed penalty if that is how they intend to pursue the matter.

If you are summonsed zebedee1691 has provided the correct magistrates sentencing guidelines.

I dont understand how POOING paid a 120 without going to court. The maximum fixed penalty (in fact the only fixed penalty thats why its called fixed) for speeding is 60. Perhaps he/she had another fixed penalty offence added on as well.

You cannot be forced to attend one of the centers which trys to each you the right way of doing things. Some areas operate schemes where speeding drivers can attend a course to help them understand the perils of speeding. In return they receive a reduced fine and no points of their licence. However, these schemes are voluntary, and drivers may still opt for the traditional penalties if they wish.
