Im concerned that this could actually be a hinderence as the roads around here are a disgrace (Glasgow City Council would rather spend money on speed bumps, islands next to bus stops and making roundabouts more pretty). As the suspension is firmer it will absorb less of the impact, therefore putting more pressure on the components or is the suspension stronger than standard?

Uprated suspension usually means the road holding will be better by making the suspension stiffer not necsasarily stronger, works best on smooth roads!

As you say it will make the ride harsher over bumps, you need to make your suspension softer to absorb bumps.

Think what they do for all cross country vehicles, long travel high riding softer suspension.
