is this right??
Im a fleet manager so I think that I have extensive knowledge most things "cars" etc. But a clleague has just told me something which just doens ring true: -
She was sent a fine for "turning left" down a road she wasnt aloud to. The fine says she was caught on camera. She swears blind she never truned donw this road, as it a one lane one way rd which is used by buses. Anyway, she sent an appeal for the fine, 2 months later she still hadnt had a response from the local council. Yesterday bailifs turn up requestiong 500 for non payment. She explains that she has not paid as she is awaiting a response to her appeal. Bailifs said that "the council are not obliged to inform you of your appeal being rejected". Therefore, while she has been waiting for a response, her appeal was rejeted and fine increased, without her being advised.
Something not right about this. What advice would you give??

the 'bailifs' (?) are talking rubbish. tell them that you have taken the reg number of their car and will be speaking to the local trading standards. (and the council )
the council has to inform you of their desision and then, if not in your favor, give you the option of going to a adjudicator. if you don't pay then, after this they would have to apply to the courts for a non payment to be put against you. then they can apply for the bailifs to come and play. also i would advise her to speak to the local police as these guys seem to be working a scam. and c.i.d may all ready have a file on them.
