what percentage of cars have the filler cap on the drivers side coz i always seem to be in a que at sainsburys waiting for petrol

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.traditionally more cars have the filler on the right because more countries drive on right, the original purpose being that it was on the correct side when pulling into early filling stations which would have had pumps that you can only get to one side of in the car. This is not 100% but most cars have the filler cap on the side that is appropriate for the country of origin for the car maker, not necessarily for the country where the car is made. For example Rovers have the filler cap on the left as do pretty much all japanese cars because they drive on the left in Japan and UK. Now Vauxhalls have the filler on the right because allthough they are built in UK they are US in origin. Same is true with VW's BMW, audi's etc being German they drive on the right so filler on the right. As I say this is not 100% but It's quite rare to find a car that goes against this general maxim. Ok prize for the first aber to tell me their car doesn't conform to this! Sorry don't know the percentage but I thought the above may interest you.
