Whats the best way to treat rust on vehicle paintwork/body?

there is not really,because after a while it will allways come through again,unless you cut it right out and weld a bit on .

there is a product which you paint on to kill rust, but if the rust is to bad the best thing to do is to cut it all out and weld in nice shiney stuff, also if you do treat the rust from the painted side, make sure and cover the rear with waxoyl, i think thats the spelling

Put a new body on the engine........it's the only way.

The anti-rust paint is something like Kurust. It converts the rust to a more solid metal compound. It must then be properly painted and protected.
