Central locking key does not work

i have a Peugot 306 meridian with the key activating the central locking and immobiser. One of the keys stopped working so took it into a motor shop to have new battery inserted. The sho tested it on their machine and showed it was good. However upon arriving home, tried it and it didnt work. Have now been told it needs a code. What code is it the radio code and also how do i code it in.= please. Or does this mean another trip to the peugot garage to have a diagnostic test and yet again more expense. Thanks

its not the radio code. you will probably need to go back to peugeot for it. if so, refuse to pay for it as you have already been in regarding this.

you can do it yourself and i can explain how.. but first i need to know the year of the vehicle, and if you have a double lock type system.(two buttons on the key fob?)

ok im going to guess the year as a pre 98

procedure..

Obtain all keys fitted with remote
Remove key from one remote
Sit in drivers seat
Ensure doors are closed and unlocked
Insert 1 key into ignition switch
Turn switch to position 2 (dash lights on)
Point remote at receiver (near your rear view mirror)
Distance from receiver less that 10 cm
Press lock/unlock button or�.
���.Some models press lock/unlock button then double lock button (small button)
���.try both if unsure.
Repeat above procedure WITHIN 10 seconds for all other remotes
Confirm programming success by testing both buttons (and both remotes)
