Jaguar flat battery

The battery on my father's Jaguar XJ6 has gone flat. Apparently the key will open the car door manually but not the boot. Any suggestions how to get into the boot to access the battery please.

you may get definitive answer on a site like 'pistonheads'
try taking the rear numberplate off and see if there is a hole that would possibly allow you to fiddle about with some instument to see if you can release the lid

why not open the bonnet, use a good earth and find a + connection, possibly the alternator, jump start the old girl and hey presto

Boink has the answer, however, connect the booster cables to the starter motor, one to the positive pole, one to the negative pole, making sure they are connected the same way to the boosting battery. The wiring on the alternator will not take the amperage required for boosting.
