how does it work? (indicators)

Clearly the four way indicators need to work all the time, ie when the engine is off. But how do they get power from the battery if the key is not turned?!

Quite a few accesories in modern cars work with the engine switched off, they just have a permenant live feed direct from the cars battery.
They just work the same way as your lights work with the engine off
