Hi, I just discovered that my 1.25 16v Fiesta Ghia is insurance group 6. I was wondering why its that high when there are other 1.25 and 1.3 engined fiestas that are lower than that.

Explains why my insurance always seems a bit expensive...

Thanks

it could be done to the trim as isnt a ghia quite high spec ?
The 16 valve 1.25 engine is more powerful than the 8 valve 1.25 and 1.3 versions even though they have similar cubic capacity. The 16 valve car will be a bit quicker and therefore have a higher insurance grouping.

Thanks for the answer. Shame they dont take into consideration that my car has no acceleration anymore!
yes a high spec trim will increase premiums -your ghia will have extra equipment over lower models that in a accident will cost more to replace
btw ,surely there is only a 16 valve 1.25 -and no 8valve 1.25?
It's partly because it's a ghia. I have one, and the insurance is rather high, just because of the high spec.
