My husband and I are looking to buy a "fun" car before we
settle down and have kids.
We don't have a massive budget (6000 max) so 2nd hand is the way to go.
Can anyone suggest a nice looking, convertible car with room to fit hubby's golf clubs in the boot?
The golf clubs are a must and I have a horrible feeling this will be deciding factor!

Would love an MX5 but don't think boot space is adequate.
i have to say a little red crx dont i

Honda CRX delsol. Get electric roof if you can and the boot is quite large really.

heres an example of one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1994-HONDA-CIVIC-CRX-VTI -RED_W0QQitemZ200031476496QQihZ010QQcategoryZ1 8206QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

An MX5 is the default choice, and I would think you would get a set of clubs in the boot OK, not very original though, and your husband will feel like a hairdresser if he ever drives it alone. Personally I would get something more interesting like a nice classic TR6, plenty of room in the boot, and lots of very tidy/semi restored examples around for sensible money, especially at this time of year. Dassie's suggestion of a Golf is a good one, its likely to be reliable and has plenty of room, but looks a bit like a pram with the top down. I like the Pergeot 309 cabriolet, looks very nice, and drives very well too. The MG TF is also very underrated and suffers by asociation with its rubbish predessor so can be had for very sensible money.
ahhh...i think you mean 306 cabriolet, not 309.I would consider something with more poke like a 325i convertible or if your daring and bold a jag cabriolet/convertible - ideal golf club cars
You can get yourself a very nice BMW Z3 for that money and yes all BMW's are deigned to accomodate a full set of clubs, horizontally in the boot.
