This is a government document, therefore very wordy!, but its all here.

Be aware these will change next April (I think!), but effectively the only change will be that instead of being able to take your 45 min break in 3 x 15min lumps, at least one period will have to be 30 min minimum
Just thought, if you haven't done any driving for a while and you are going to be employed by someone you may need a driver card for the new digital tacho (looks similar to a photo driving licence card). Costs 38 from DVLA and I believe there is about a 3 month waiting list!

Thanks sddsddean, i knew the new driver card was coming in was not sure if it was compulsary or not yet, thanks for the link also.

It appears that the link supplied by sddsddean is for the PSV Drivers booklet.

The Goods Vehicles Drivers' Hours booklet is available here...

Serves me right for not reading the front properly!!!! Sorry Si and thanks kempie.
the main change in the drivers hours is you can have as little as 24 hours off every 2nd week but you need to add it to a 45 hr making it a 66 hr weekend by the end of the third week making it look like this 45 off 24 off 66 off then back to 45 off
the 3x15 mins break is to be changed to 1x30 min break and 1x 15 as sddsddean has said on his comment
there is also another change to the regs regarding the daily rest period you can still have 9 hrs off 3 times a week without paying back the time
bear in mind the 90 hr fortnight is still in operation and you really have to keep an eye on that one as it catches a lot of drivers out including myself

Thanks for that Bob, very informitve, I work for the fire service so don't use a tacho when driving the fire engines, but have decided to return to agency work...needs must and all that, I used to do it a few years ago but got fed up with all the crap that your expected to do, just thought i'd better brush up on the regs.. cheers,

Si
