car wont start

i have a 1.7diesel,vauxhall corsa.i had a leaky fuel tank,so i replaced it with a second hand one that doesnt leak,but now i cant get the car to start.i have put diesel in tank,car is turning over but doesnt start.i have loosened one of the injectors and turned engine over and there is derv spitting through injector.i have filled filter with derv and tried to start but no joy.if there is a stop solenoid on fuel pump.where on pump is it as i have had a look but cant find it.is this car fitted with one.any ideas would be appreciated.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Are you sure there was no muck in your second-hand tank? It might have had water or something else in it. Maybe have a good look at the filter to check what is in there.
Is their fuel coming from all the injectors? Maybe you have fuel from the one you checked but the others could be blocked if there was muck in the tank.
It could be the fuel pump but it's hard to say otherwise because it might be something unconnected to the replacement tank.

did you prime the pump by hand ? there is a pump on top of the filter that needs to be pumped to fetch fuel up from the tank.
also, you may need to "bleed" the whole fuel system to get any/all air out of it.. bleeding the one injector wont cure the problem if there is air in there. bleed it in the same way you would a braking system. turn the engine over and release the locking nut on the injector. be sure to lock the nut before you stop the engine turning. you dont want to suck air back into the fuel line.....
the fuel solenoid will be on or near the pump. it will more than likely have a single brown wire bolted to the top.
did you check your glow plugs ??
