Caught on camera in a bus lane

I have recently been caught on camera driving in a bus lane. How serious of an offence is this?, what are the fines, points given for this and how long does it take to be notified?

It is a bit of a lottery as to whether you will be prosecuted. London and other major cities are particularly eager at prosecution, smaller towns less so.

If you do get fined, expect a fixed fine of �50 if you pay within 28 days. The fine is increased to �100 after that time.

The crime you are commiting is 'Driving without reasonable consideration for others'.

�100 fine, which is reduced to �50 if you pay within 28 days i think, no points, takes about 2 weeks to come through

How do you mean 'caught on camera' ?. If you simply drove past a cctv whilst in the bus lane, you are not likely to hear anything.
Or were you flashed ? in which case you may be prosecuted for this and the other offence (speeding / traffic signal).

Ah i would imagine those are more for public order rather than motoring offences, keep your fingers crossed hey !.
