Can anyone help?? I'm getting quotes at the moment for a car I'm thinking of buying. I have 2 convictions on my licence and 1 claim for when my car was vandalised (badly). The car is a Lexus IS and approx value is 8000. The lowest quote I've had so far is 1700!!! Can anyone recomend a cheap insurance company for my situation??

Maybe you should consider buying a car in a lower insurance group.
it will really depend what your convictions are for and your age.
Try a company like adrian flux http://www.adrianflux.co.uk/

The first conviction is for speeding on a 30mph road and the other is for driving a vehicle with defective tyres.
if your previous car was badly vandalised , that tells you your car spend should be 800- NOT 8000.
Try Moneysupermarket .
try www.confused.com they will give you quotes from around 20/30/companies
Try skyinsurance the out quoted adrian flux and tesco's who both are pretty cheap, they'll prob give you a 10% discount if your a member of a certain car club as well, have a look at their internet site and see which car clubs you can join to get the discount.
My membership is only 15 a year and saved me 200 on the original quote
