help?? ford probe starting problems

HELP; my ford probe wont start its turning over just not firing up why? it was starting fine then i left it for an hour came back to it and now it wont start anybody got any ideas? thanks in advance

could be a number of things are you in the AA OR RAC,if not you should be.
ford probes had a common fault being the distributor. if you buy a new dizzy it costs a fortune but you can buy a kit which includes all the internal parts needed to get you going again. i cant guarantee 100% that this is your problem but i reckon it is. have you got a spark? if you havnt then the dizzy could be your answer.
my guess would have been the same as Tomtech's

ignition amplifier (incorporated in distributor)
My brother in law has one of these. He had a faulty immobiliser and distributor I think. The car was in the garage for three months and he came out with a bill of over �1300.

His however, was starting and running for 5-10 secs before dying.
