If I want to improve my lighting is there an alternative to the normal standard bulbs? I have heard of halogen bulbs..are these any better? Also you see cars with a blue tinge to their lighting, what is this?

Your standard car headlight is rated at 60/55w (60w for the main beam and 55w for the dip)
There are bulbs on the market that claim to be up to 60% brighter than standard ( the ones I use are manufactured by RING).
They are a brighter/white light and I use them in every car I've had - the only draw back is they don't last as long as normal halogen bulbs - normally about two years.
You could get a higer rated bulb eg. 100/70w but they are illegal on road cars and you'll only blind other drivers and you would run the risk of overloading the lighting circuits with them. - the choice is yours - but I'd go for the RING bulbs.

The blue lights are known as "High Intensity Discharge" or Xenon lights, they were horendously expensive a few years back but some conversions are coming out at sensible prices now.

Search google for 'hid' and look out for Xenon.

But to be road legal they have to be auto self leveling and have uprated headlamp washers fitted.

The places you buy them from do not tell you that.

A good system would come out at around �900.00 fully fitted.

Stick to getting Osram Xenon gas bulbs, they are supposed to be 50% brighter than normal, there still not as good as my factory fitted HID Xenons though.
