motoring prosecution

My wife drove her car in to rear of car in front which stopped suddenly in a line of traffic. In daylight. Straight, good road. Dry weather. Probably doing 40 mph in a 40 zone. She had switched mobile phone on to see if a message there. Her car a write off. Wife and driver in front bruised.
She is being prosecuted for "Driving without due care and attention or reasonable consideration for others".
She has been given offer of attending "Driver Improvement Course" instead of court proceedings.

Should she go on the course or let case go to court? What fine and points likely if found guilty?

Go on the course... I know people who are experienced drivers who have attended these Driver Improvement Courses, and report back that they found the course extremely beneficial.

Best of all you avoid the points and fine

Note its no good booking the course and then not attending as the police will be informed and you will receive a summons in the post!

I agree. If that is the way she drives, the driver improvement course is a bargain. It could prolong her life or somebody else's.

hope they lock her up.
it didnt stop suddenly , she wasnt looking ahead or paying attention.
hope she has to pay for all damage caused,not the insurance company.

there's always one who has to be a hippocrit, maby gsr hasnt looked at their phone whilst driving but i would bet everything i own that they have looked out of their window wheather its at a crash, a drunk, christmas decorations or anything along those lines, ut still comes down to the same thing " driving without due care and attention".

Tell her to take the course definately, there are others that wish they got the choice
