how old is your car ?? i have a 1963 morris traveller A-series engine that started to knock .it was the timing that was out also look at your oil if its like thinned down oil needs changing also your oil filter dont use recycled oil use the best and add an addative to protest your valves and pistones there is lots of good products now on the market to add to your engine oil when you do an engine change let the engine tick over for at least half hour then leave it to stand for a couple of hours then start again see what happens if it knocks again sorry could be a big or little end on its way out but could last a long time before going all togeather also look if you have blue smoke coming out of the exhaust if you do its the pistone rings these can be sealed with pistone seal from any good Auto shop hope this helps good luck.
