does anyone know how to get the control knob off to et access to conections.

I think you turn it vertical and push a thin screwdriver into a hole in the bottom while pulling

If it ist he same year as mine you just give it a good pull and off it pops.

Haynes says on Mark 3 model that the heater controls pull off but the middle one for the blower has to be turned to position 3 and have a thin rod or screwdriver pushed into the hole at the bottom.
