I've a 96 Rover 111sli, I've had it a while now and its only gor 59,000 on the clock. However, this week, the light keeps coming on that suggests the handbrake is on, just randomly when i'm driving, sometimes it flickers on and off, sometimes its constant and generally at speed, it never comes on (the way it should be!). Any ideas?

Check your brake fluid level first for safety, then get your brake pads checked if its not that. The handbrake light doubles as a warning for most brake issues.
Do as furrycheeky suggests but have you tried holding the handbrake down (off) when driving along, if the light goes out then it is just the switch under the handbrake lever.
brake cables stick a lot on these, may be the problem.
if that is the problem dont pay any more than 15 quid for one.
most common supplier in uk is quinten hazell found at most parts suppliers. part number bc2252

the 100 series also use brake adjusters, but i dont think this would cause your fault
