why does nopone know whats wrong with my car

hi i have a r reg renault megane classic 1600. i havent noticed any problems whith the clutch or gears until i was driving the other day and it felt like i was in the wrong gear i checked and wasnt i pulled over and tryed to put it in first it apeared to go in no problem but wouldnt drive any where. ive had a few mechanics look at it and there ideas all vary some say new gear box or clutch or both some say its the drive im confused. as are the people who have looked at it dont want to pay out for cluch and gear box if this is not the problem please help.
