Subaru Impreza squealing

I have a very annoying squeal in my impreza turbo on start up especially when cold. It usually lasts for about 30 seconds sometimes longer. Sometimes it does it when i'm parking and the steering is in full lock. Any ideas anyone. Please help.

Sounds like the power steering motor could be on the blink. Is the steering a little heavy during the 30 seconds?
If it is then i'm sure that is your problem.

sounds like a loose fan belt to me. If it is the parking bit wll be because of the varying of engine speed rather than a steering problem.

Thank you both for quick answer. I think it might not be the power steering pump as the steering doesnt get heavy. It could be the fan belt tho as the sound gets louder or less louder depening on the engine speed. Thanks, i will go check it out now.

as loosehead says tighten your belt or get some spray on belt dressing from autoshop

fan belt/ drive belt definately.
tighten it a little to the corect tension it's cured.
did it on my transit . that had two belts, one for the alternator and one for power steering. yours may only have one that does both.
