the man at the garage always tell me that super unleaded makes ur car go faster and that the police use it..dunno if he's just saying that cos he thinks i might buy it or if its true...

re mixing it - has no effect on my car. sometimes i get super, sometimes just regular...
The difference is the Octane rating of the fuel - you can run a car that runs on 95 octane or RON (unleaded) petrol on 98 Octane or RON (super un-leaded) but not vice versa or you will damage the engine. Will also cost you more to fill up on it.
Octane rating is the term is given to determine the ristance of the fuel against KNOCKING -

see this -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline
Ps. the man at the garage is a lying sod if he says it makes you car go faster.
Supper unleaded should not be used before seven in the evening...
Super unleaded is for your high performance cars like your Suberu Impreza's and not your boy racer Corsa's due to the high octane content...
some cars certainly do perform better on super unleaded. These fuels have greater resistance to detonation hence the engine runs with more ignition advance and is more efficient. On many cars a knock sensor retards the ignition timing at the onset of knocking or pinking making it less efficient.
