I'm fully fitted with Continental Premium tyres. My recommended pressures are 32 PSI front and 30 PSI rear. Great on a motorway, but hard and noisy on suburban roads. As most of my present day driving is on local roads, would I gain anything by lowering the pressures 3 or 4 lbs and returning to full pressues when distance driving?

You wouldn't gain a thing except wearing the tyre on the outer edges quicker - just get quieter tyres next time.
I was just going to say the same WOODCHOPPER, also petrol consumption would go up.
its also an offence if your tyres are under inflated
and you use more petrol per mile
underinflated tres means more fuel more tyre ware and if u get nabbed by the fuss then 3 pts per tyre

just talk to a few different tyre fitting places about fining quieter tryes but it could just be the type of car you driving like a citroen ax or saxo will be noisyer than a top of the range audi a4 or a6 or a bmw or merc or jag etc as they dont put as much sound deadening in them or very good quilty suspention bushes that do away with the noise etc

Many thanks for your advice. Driving since the days of Lanchesters and Cleveland petrol, I'm never too old to learn. Previous Mitsubishis have never given this problem.
