Just had my renewal quote and before the theft i had 16 years no claims, but now my insurance co have dropped it to 2 years, should it not be 3 years NCB now. 5 years is the max as far as i'm aware but thet took 3 years of me......
Anyone know if they are wrong?

Different procedures may apply depending on who you are insured with. For example I know Norwich Unions max ncd is 5 years, so unless your NCD is protected for every claim you make you would lose 2 years ncd (ie 5 years to 3 years). Who are you insd with? Have tried contacting your insurers to query with them and make sure they have issued on the correct basis?

im with Quinn-Direct, i have'nt rang them yet as i only got the renewal this morning, i should have had it protected but it's one of those (it wont happen to me) senarios.
I'm going to ring quinn tomorrow but just wanted some ammo before i called them
Hi bubbadel,

Here's a link to Quinn Direct's policy wording:-

According to their no claims bonus reduction scale this is unfortunately correct. There's not many companies out there who will still give you three years no claims bonus after a claim. Not really fair considering you've been driving 16 years claim free but unfortunately they don't take that into account.

Thanks for that johnny, i did check on confused.com but the best they came up with was 531, 50 more, so looks like quinn will get there money back once i renew.
Last year 290 + 480 = 770
My payment for stolen car less excess = 775
Hmmm... Good business this.....
