low oil pressure

Diesel escort ,oil pressure light on very dimly,has had oil change and filter,ok at steady revs 40mph in top gear ,sound ok ,whem warm light pulses at idle speed.Any quick answers

Could be a poor oil pump, worn bearings, wrong grade of oil (too thin), faulty oil pressure sensor.

Yes i have been thinking, i will fit an oil pump its an external one and relatively easty to fit, just thought it might be a common faut other than the usual engine ware,thanks for the reply!!

Could be a faulty sender unit to the oil gauge. I would check that before going to the expence of fitting a new pump.

I agree with dilligaf. I had the same problem with oil pressure and thought I was clutching at straws changing the sender, but that was the answer.
