Peugeot 206 key fob

My Peugeot 206 (2001) key fob seems to have stopped working, and although I can unlock my door manually with the key I think the engine is immobilised.

Can I just change the battery myself? If so, will the key fob immediately work?

do you have the handbook for the car,if so it will tell you in the book,how to do it.

You can change the battery yourself quite easily. The fob opens and you can replace battery. Try Maplin for the new battery keen prices and fast moving stock my own cost �1.99. Don't want to be jobs comforter but this may not be the problem

i always take my keys in to a garage and let them do it . coz i was told if you take a long time to put a a new battery in you have problems with the key . not sure if thats true ?

The remote control is only used to control the remote central locking . The immobiliser is controlled by a tranponder chip in the remote casing for a Peugeot, http://www.theautolocksmith.co.uk/Peugeot-car- keys.html.

It is unlikely the car has become immobilised due to a central locking fault.
