They will get 'done' for code RL89165 - Misuse of Headlamps.

Probably just a verbal warning, or a 30 fine.

Headlamps should only be 'flashed' to warn drivers of your presence. No other reason.

Could be seen as "obstructing an officer in the exicution of his duty" as you are helping them to avoid getting caught while commiting a crime, but as mdoo says, very difficult to prove.
just say someone flashed you so you were checking that your headlights were turned off. ' i just turned them on then made sure the switch clicked to fully turned them off '
I once got "spoken" to by a nofficer of the law for flagging down a car that was just about to zoom past me and past a speed trap I knew was ahead.
He was quite irate especially when I suggested that I was encouraging road safety just like him and his friends were.
He threatened to do me for driving without both hands on the wheel but didn't mention being able to do me for interfering with the trap itself!
Yet another jobsworth w*nker who should be sent out to get a real job not one that adds no value to the common cause and adding to the nanny state.
Preventing the course of justice. They have to prove at the exact time you warned them, by flashing your lights, they were actually speeding, very difficult to prove, prob just get a warning.
was probably some random do - gooder. ( what an idiot ). even the police wouldnt be stupid enough to think that this would be enough evidence to do anything.
i thought that speed camera`s were originally put in place at accident blackspots and had to be signposted of their presence, surely if a driver warns another driver of a potential hazard then they are doing a service not a crime
Let's be realistic here - as Elmek said, they're just offering the same 'service' as camera warning signs are, which have to be erected in accident blackspots. The officers just get p****d off because they lose out on their commission and their constabulary loses out on a bit of easy revenue.

Jobsworth's.
